Oct 23, 2017 With a brand new look on things (first time doing this), I wasn't too impressed with the process of using DJI Assistant 2 on Mac OS X. The.dmg file for Ver. 1.0.4 is available on DJI's download page: DJI Phantom 4 â Specs, FAQ, Tutorials and Downloads and is compatible Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or higher. We will stop distributing and updating â2.4G Bluetooth DataLink Installer v1.0.0.6â,'Phantom 2 Assistant Software v3.8, Phantom 2 Assistant Software v3.6,Phantom RC Assistant Software v1.2( for WIndows & Mac)' on May 15, 2018, including adaptations to the new version of the operating system.
1. Download Ronin-S Software
Download the Ronin-S software for your operating system from the DJI site here, and run the installer and open the 'DJI Assistant for Ronin' on your machine.
2. Attach & Power On
Plug in your Ronin-S to your computer via the USB-C port on the front of the Gimbal. Power the Ronin-S on by pressing and holding the battery first (the lower one, by the tripod/extended grip) and then press and hold the power button on the top/side of the gimbal (by the joystick/record button).
3. Install Firmware update on DJI Ronin-S
With the Gimbal on, software open, select the 'UPGRADE' button next to the latest firmware at the top of the list. My Ronin-S gimbal needed multiple upgrades! It was running 1.5.0.40 when I received it, and it took about 5 minutes to update the firmware to 1.7.0.60.
If you have multiple upgrades available, selecting the latest version will get you all of the latest firmware updates. You don't have to install each of them individually - just install the latest version and you're good to go!
Conclusion
I know this isn't the most exciting article, but it is one that I needed to write - because the documentation from DJI isn't the greatest for this. The process isn't that difficult once you know where to download the software and set it up, but it's one of those things that you should be familiar with. Now if you need to upgrade, downgrade or for some reason refresh your Ronin-S firmware in the future - it will be a breeze!
